Food Department Manager

We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Food Service Manager to lead and grow our seasonal food service operations. In this role, you will oversee seasonal food truck operations for four food trucks, ensuring exceptional food quality, safety standards, and outstanding customer experiences. Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver top-tier service while maintaining efficient operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow with our business as we look to expand our food department. This is a part-time position when the farm is closed to the public and a full-time position when we are open to the public. The farm is open to the public in May, August, September and October. Pay is $25-$30/hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all aspects of food service operations, including food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning procedures.
  • Manage daily shift activities, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal customer service delivery.
  • Oversee food safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate food production processes to maintain quality, consistency, and timely delivery of meals.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to foster a motivated team environment.
  • Plan menus in collaboration with current staff.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs to maximize efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Handle customer inquiries or complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction and positive experiences.
  • Implement operational policies that promote a safe, welcoming atmosphere for both staff and guests.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to secure high-quality ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Maintain detailed records of food handling procedures, safety inspections, and operational reports for accountability.

Requirements

  • Proven management experience in food service management or restaurant operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of food production techniques, cooking methods, and food preparation standards.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience leading kitchen teams or hospitality staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and dietary considerations.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle guest concerns professionally.
  • Experience managing shift schedules, controlling costs, and overseeing inventory management processes.
  • Experience working in Food Trucks is a plus.
  • Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
  • Previous experience working in hospitality management or kitchen environments is preferred; barista or coffee experience can be advantageous for specialty beverage operations.
